How to increase virtual machine disk size?

Description:

Hi,
the Ubuntu 16.04 64bit (desktop) - vmware image gives a machine with only 10Gb of hard disk. How to effectively increase its size after having set the desired disk size in "edit virtual machine settings"?

You can use "gparted" tool to resize Your partition.
Just install it first:

sudo apt-get install gparted

Afterwards, open terminal and start it as root.

sudo gparted

On the graphical GUI choose the partition which You would like to extend and resize it.
